I started playing piano at the age of 7 using traditional approaches to learning. In my teens, without the use of written music, I was fortunate enough to be shown the fundamentals of blues. This non-traditional approach completely unlocked music and the piano for me.

At about the same time I took a real interest in recorded music and began exploring the guitar. I was mesmerised by good music of any style. The way it could transport me out of time and elevate me to different states of mind. I was determined to pursue it’s mysteries.

The next few years saw me mainly playing rhythm guitar to accompany myself while learning to sing my favourite songs. I was also a passionate surfer and ended up as a deckhand on a surf charter yacht sailing from Australia to Sumatra. These 5 months of sailing, including crossing an ocean, cemented my love of the sea and the land it connects.

So began my 3 year 35 country journey around the world. This included working in London on systems supporting the money market trading floors. A real eye opener to international wealth and the corporate world.

Back in Australia, I studied sound engineering, returned focus to the piano and began assembling a studio and band. Pillbilly was hatched. Today I balance my love of music and creativity with work in technology and communication.
